47555 hauls 840 dead from its train and prepares to dump the loco on Crewe DED. 840 had failed the night previous at Bournemouth and 4755 was sent to haul the train and 840 to Crewe. July 1990Previous | Next7th July 2001 and 47840 drags the 09:10 HSt from Plymouth to Newton Abbot due to a defective power car. The loco perfermed faultlessly all day rescuing failed trains, a real money earner for Virgin, and a godsend for FGW.
