Look Closely! This isnt a recent picture of North Star, note the lack of headlight, the Blue/grey MK3 coach its hauled in and the Blue Grey MK1 in the back ground. Its actually taken in 1981 and shows the loco at Manchester Piccadilly after hauling a service from euston. Not taken by myself, so if you know who took it kindly let me know.

47847 and 47840 roar out the tunnel with a late running 1V50 Glasgow to Penzance service tha last sunday to have 47 haulage. Overnight 840 was renumbered to 077 for the last ever return trip. August 2002

In the right place at the right time! 8th April 1985, 47613 only 2 months out of works after conversion to an ETH 47/4 at Reading with a service to Newbury from Paddington.

July 2nd 2002, on the bridge at Aller Jcn, along with over 30 other photographers, including Colin Marsden, 47840 comes up from Paignton with the 16:10 Paignton- Preston 1M25 service, with the DVT directly behind the loco.

The pennultimate journey. North Star renumbered for this day only to 47077 along with 47847 head out of Newton Abbot bounfd for Birmingham on the last ever Virgin Cross Country Class 47 hauled service. August 2002. A very sad day, but a memorable one for the loco.

47840 powers round Langstone rock at Dawlish Warren with 1M56 to Man Picc in July 2002, another 7 secs and this view would have been bvlocked by a 67. 840 was running 56 mins late .

August 19th 2002, the line up of the celebrity Class 47s operated by Virgin XC. North Star stands prodly in the middle of the line up complete with the commerative headboard after working the very last train to Birmingham from Penzance

Running over 100 minutes late, and North Star trundles through Totnes en route to Plymouth with 5Z47 09:30 Derby Lichurch Lane - Laira stock move conveying refubished MK 3s for FGW, the loco carries "Bristol Bluebirds" headboard. 6th March 2007
